Mission
Statement:
The mission of Bay Area Charter Elementary School is to foster the excitement of learning
through an interactive educational environment that values the gifts and talents of every
child while encouraging cooperation among students, parents, and the school community.
What kind of school is it?
Bay Area Charter Elementary
School is a public school that emphasizes project-based learning influenced by the Reggio
Emilia approach to education. This
internationally acclaimed approach uses childrens questioning as the framework in
which principles of science, math, and language are taught through projects. Projects stimulate the childs natural
curiosity and interest while promoting critical thinking, investigation, problem solving,
confidence, creative expression, math, and language development.

How is this school different?
Project-based, cooperative student learning is integrated at all grade levels. The
personalized learning environment is designed to accommodate different learning styles
among children. Small classes with a low
student/ teacher ratio are provided. Extensive
assessment information consisting of a grade-level checklist, narrative reports, and
portfolios of student work are provided to parents. Letter
grades are not given and assessment if on going.

Bay Area Charter Elementary is a public school with a faculty of state-certified
elementary and early childhood teachers. We
adhere to the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), follow state guidelines, and
administer the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) test as required by the
Texas Education Agency.
